The Duomo of San Gimignano, also known as the Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta, dominates Piazza del Duomo in the heart of the medieval town.
Consecrated in 1148 and rebuilt multiple times, its interior walls are entirely lined with vivid fresco cycles depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
Among the highlights is the Chapel of Saint Fina, decorated by Ghirlandaio, as well as the dramatic “Last Judgment” by Taddeo di Bartolo.
Adjoined is the Museum of Sacred Art, which houses paintings, liturgical objects, and treasures once belonging to churches in the region.
This Romanesque-Gothic edifice is a cultural jewel in Tuscany and draws visitors from around the world..
